Whirlwind weekend - A.C., Cape May, and O.C.

Well the last weekend in April was a fun but tiring weekend. Dan and I both took off on Friday and headed down to Atlantic City for the night. We stayed at the Borgata for the night which was very nice. I discovered that I am a big wimp when it comes to gambling. I hate to spend money so I have no chance in actually winning money! I feel like I just throw my money away in 5 minutes. We walked around the Borgata and ended up walking by Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant he has there. I had read the previous day that he was going to be there for a dinner that night where customers could pay $250 to have dinner with him. When we walked by we were checking out the menu when I looked at the bar of the restaurant (the restaurant was quiet and empty at this point b/c it was closed) and there was none other than Wolfgang Puck himself. I was so excited! Of course I didn’t have my camera so I couldn’t even take a picture! I don’t believe anyone else even noticed him! I was so excited. Dan and I stopped and kind of stared for a little bit (like the big dork I am!) and then after we walked around the casino a little more I made him walk back over there with me so I could see him again! Yes, did I mention I am a big dork?! So we didn’t win any money, but didn’t lose much either which is always a plus J The next morning we got up and headed to breakfast downstairs at the buffet in the Borgata. Now, we all know how Dan loves to eat so a buffet is more than he could ever ask for. Not only did he eat a lot but he also drank coffee, orange juice and water – and he would have had an iced tea too if it was fresh brewed! After stuffing ourselves, we headed down to Cape May, NJ to catch the ferry to Lewes, DE.

Cape May is a great beach town. It is small and not commercialized like so many beaches tend to be. We walked and drove around Cape May for awhile then headed to the ferry. It was our first time on the ferry so it was exciting for both of us! It amazed us at how quickly they can get all the cars put on the boat – it probably took about 10 minutes at the most. We boarded the boat, exited our car and headed upstairs to the decks. There are several outside decks and several inside seating areas. Dan would have liked to stay outside the whole time but it was cold out and I am too much of a wimp to stay outside in the cold! The ride was a little over an hour and it really went by quickly. We went back down to our car and drove off the boat. PICTURES

We headed straight for Ocean City, MD which was about 1 hour away. When we arrived in Ocean City we went straight to the hotel to check in. Not the nicest hotel – especially compared to the Borgata in Atlantic City – but it was convenient to the upcoming wedding activities and the price was definitely more affordable! We changed our clothes and headed to dinner at Crab Alley which is where I used to work for two summers that I lived in Ocean City. I hadn’t been back to OC in a few years, but not too much had changed. Crab Alley’s food was as awesome as it always was! I seriously think they have the best seafood in OC! After dinner we met up with Rachel, the bride who I grew up with since the age of about 6 months old! I hadn’t seen her in awhile either and she had never met Dan. We met up with her and some of her family at Harborside (which is right down the street from Crab Alley). Harborside was definitely one of my old stomping-grounds back when I lived there. You know you go to a place too much when the bartender comes out from behind the bar to give you a hug! Lol. While there Dan got to taste his first Orange Crush which is a terrific drink of fresh squeezed orange juice, orange vodka, triple sec, and a splash of sprite. They are so tasty but they will definitely sneak up on you! We behaved ourselves and headed back down the street to the hotel after a little while – we were both tired. The next day we got up, went to breakfast and then before long it was time for the wedding. I was very excited about the wedding! The ceremony was very nice, Rachel and her husband Uriah both looked terrific and so in love. The reception followed immediately afterwards and was very nice as well. The food was great; it was catered by Crab Alley. The only think I wasn’t a big fan of was how early the reception ended – it was over by 7:30pm. We all ended up going back to the hotel to hang out and spend more time together. Everyone had a great time! PICTURES
