CRYAN'S

IT'S FRIDAY!! Not that it makes that much of a difference to me since I've been off work all week, but I'm still happy it's the weekend. I spent a majority of today online searching for jobs. Fun, fun, fun. Dan ended up working a little late so I decided to make some homemade chocolate chip cookies -- yeah, cookies would definitely make me feel better after learning I wasn't going to get that job :-) Fresh baked cookies make everything better!!

Dan finally got home and we decided to go out for a dinner and a few drinks. A drink would probably help me feel better more than the cookies did! We went to Cryans which is an Irish place within walking distance from our house in the Village of South Orange. As we sat at the bar and ate dinner and chatted with the bartender, we noticed a band was setting up. We also noticed that in a private room off to the side there were tons of guys hanging out. Apparently it was some sort of fraternity party. Jill and Scott (the owners of the house we are renting) told us that it is the only bar where you feel like you have a college (Seton Hall University) right up the street and after being there I can now say I agree.

The band started playing and they actually weren't too bad. I'm a big fan of live bands though so it was a good time. Then the private party let out and the bar was flooded with what seemed like 500 college boys. Yippee :-( I have tried to post a video below but not sure if it will work. It is video of an older woman dancing her butt off to the band that was playing. The quality isn't the best b/c it is video from my cell phone. The best part was when she would grab one of the young college guys and try to make him dance with her! Too funny! I bet she's a groupie... haha

(I think the sound is messed up, but the dancing is still funny!)

So the whole time we were at Cryan's, I had my cell phone sitting on the bar waiting for a phone call from my sister. Her boyfriend had mentioned that he was going to propose that night. I am so glad that Dan and I weren't just sitting at home because I would have been checking my phone every 5 minutes to see if I missed her call. Finally around 10:30pm (while we were still at Cryans and the band was rockin' out) my phone rang and it was Angie. FINALLY!!! I grabbed my phone and went running for the front door so I could actually hear her. And that's when she told me Jimmy had proposed!!! :-) I am so excited for them! And she sounded so happy -- kind of shocked but I think I had the same reaction when Dan proposed to me. My hands were shaking and I don't think it really sinks in right away. So I got off the phone with her and turned to head back into the bar area. The door guy had the nerve to ask me for ID. I said 'what?! I've been here for awhile. Are you serious?'. He said 'yep'. So I went back to the bar to grab my ID and thought about just sitting back down to see if he would say anything, but I was good and took my ID back up to him. Then he had to nerve to question that it was a Maryland drivers license. I'm thinking, look, I'm way past the age of fake IDs so please don't even try it buddy and there are about 30 guys at the bar right now who I guarantee aren't 21, so just leave me alone. Anyways, he let me back in and I wasn't too big of a smart butt b/c I was afraid he would try to charge me cover (which a girl was collecting since there was a band) or something crazy like that!

We headed home -- luckily its a short walk so no driving involved. My hears were ringing for awhile after he got home, but it was definitely a good time! Even if it did make me feel kind of old seeing all those college kids!
