May I Ask Why?

Well, bad news... I'm not getting the job at Columbia. Its probably for the best because I don't think I would be that happy there, but it was something and like I said before it would be nice to be able to get a masters degree for free. I emailed Paula this morning to let her know that I was planning on emailing Carla to thank her and to follow up. Paula emailed me back and said that Carla enjoyed meeting me but wasn't planning on considering me for the position. I replied with 'Okay, may I ask why?'. She responded saying 'The President’s Office really needs someone who has worked at a constant unrelenting fast paced environment with the highest visibility from internal and external stakeholders'. What does that mean?? Had I not mentioned I worked for the Lt. Governor of Maryland? Needless to say, I was pretty surprised. I mean, if you aren't going to offer me the job, at least give me the real reason because I was more than qualified. You can't tell me that the President of Columbia is busier than the Lt. Governor of the State of Maryland who was also a national figure getting ready to run for Senate. I think they either had someone internally that they wanted to hire but I also got the impression from Carla that she really wanted someone that she could kind of boss around and keep under her thumb. Anyways... Like I said, it is probably for the best. I think something better will come along - something I will actually enjoy doing.

Okay, I think I've go it. It will be fun to read your blog and comment on your life in Joisey.

Love the pic of the 2 of you standing in front of the gigantic S/S badge!
