As I walking around campus today on my lunch break in the frigid weather, an aroma caught my attention. I noticed a small cart sitting on the sidewalk selling freshly roasted nuts of all sorts. The scent brought me back to Prague where Dan and I visited right before Christmas time in 2005. The weather was very cold there during our visit but they had a quaint and festive outdoor Christmas market set up. There were small booths with vendors lined up in the main town square. They were selling all sorts of things - little toys, Prague mementos, handmade glass Christmas ornaments (which I stocked up on but unfortunately some didn't survive the journey back across the Atlantic), jewelry and all sorts of things. And of course they also had several booths with food and drink including hot wine, warm pastries, and those lovely roasted nuts. So, the smell of nuts roasting in the cold weather, will always take me back to Prague :-) Isn't it amazing how many memories a smell/scent can trigger? I love taking in a scent, closing my eyes and going back to that place or time that I am reminded of even just for a second. Anyways, just a quick random thought ;-)
